Freedom Walker met with several roadside encounters today. A couple of them are pictured below.

Three women, with young Riley, were on the way to spend the day in Bullhead City. Having read about Freedom Walker in the Kingman Newspaper, they had hoped to meet him when he walked through Kingman, but had forgotten about it. Today, they were excited to see him – and made a u-turn so they would not miss the opportunity to talk with him and share their support with him today!

As Freedom Walker passed by a business, he met Mr. Chapman and Tommy Deese (aka Hillbilly), who already knew that Freedom Walker was coming through and were watching for him. They appreciated what he is doing and offered him water.

Anna is another that saw him and turned around to locate him. She was also excited and expressed her support.

Today’s walk was through Union pass on the way to Bullhead, Arizona. He felt good and the walk was so easy that he decided to walk more miles than planned, ending with 16.6 for the day.

Today the Daily Miner published a story about the walk on the front page, so many people recognized Pastor “Chick” this morning (when we visited a church) and expressed their interest and support.

While eating lunch, three people sitting in a booth beside ours, overheard our conversation about walking and asked questions. They are supportive of our walk.

Freedom Walker stopped in at the Golden Valley Barber Shop to see how much they would charge. Terri said “The charge is $10, but I will cut yours for free!” She had seen the story in the newspaper and decided to bless him with a free haircut and beard trim!

At the restaurant, when truck driver, Steve, paid for our meal, Lisa and Tuesday, who already learned about this walk, said to Steve “Thank you for doing that! They are doing something awesome!”

While we were there, we were also blessed to meet Tom and Deb, as well as Damon Whitaker, who heard Pastor “Chick” talking about the walk and wanted to know more.

We are often impressed by the way that our Heavenly Father has us at the right place at the right time – both to bless others and to receive blessings.

When we meet the people we do, many times we can think back to circumstances that caused us to be in that place at that exact time, and realize that if those circumstances did not occur, neither we nor them would have received that blessing.

One such person we met today is Kelvin, He has been a disabled veteran for 30 years and is very appreciative of what Freedom Walker is doing. Tears came to his eyes as they talked and as he expressed his support. We are glad we did not miss this encounter.

Another example is the timing of our visit to a barber shop. We were there just at the right time to meet a very nice couple (that was just leaving) who appreciates our cause.

While we were eating at a restaurant, Steve, a truck driver, came in. He paid for our meal and said he knows someone in California that can help us arrange something at Santa Monica Pier when we arrive. Thinking back to the timing of our arrival there, we recognized that if we had remembered to do something we that we had forgotten, we would not have been there at that time and would have missed this blessing.

We stopped at a hotel office just at the right time to meet Alex and Mona, who were very interested in the walk. They are Lutheran, but also visit churches of other denominations, and asked us if there is a Seventh-day Adventist church in town. Since we also visit Seventh-day Adventist churches, we might see them there in the morning.

Thanks to our Father in Heaven for His timing – it is all in His hands.
