We visited Hometown Buffet, where Manager Gustavo Rios gave Freedom Walker a free meal!

While eating, we met a family who appreciates our cause and wishes us safety for the rest of the journey.

We also met Ashley, who was amazed that anyone could walk that far – and agrees with the cause.

After walking 12.7 miles, today’s walk ended in Duarte.

We quickly drove to Claremont City Hall to meet with city officials there.

Executive Assistant Tanya Moreno greeted us with a smile and told Mayor Corey Calaycay we were there.

Mayor Corey Calaycay welcomed us to Claremont and sat down with us to talk. City Manager, Tony Ramos, also greeted Freedom Walker, listened to him tell the reasons for this walk, and wished him safe completion of his journey.

Freedom Walker presented a 40 day guide to Mayor Corey Calaycay, as a memento of this historic walk, and Mayor Calaycay presented a city pin to Freedom Walker, as a memento of his visit to Claremont.

After driving to the starting point for this morning, we stopped at a service station. Inside we met Maria who saw our shirts and said she likes them! After learning the meaning of the shirts (and walk), she said “God bless you in every way!”

Larry walked with Freedom Walker through Irwindale into Duarte. He had a lot to say and likes what we are doing.

Freedom Walker stopped on the sidewalk (between rows of trees) to talk to Peter and Ann. They stopped walking to be friendly – and learned about the walk.

I understand that there were other encounters, but I am not knowledgeable of them.

As he walked in Irwindale, Larry joined the walk into Duarte. He likes what we are doing.

I stopped for a break at Route 66 Trailhead. Rancho Cucamonga has many trails throughout their city for walking and biking. There is quite a decorated bridge for one of the trails across Route 66.
