Pastor Chick had an encounter with a young woman today. She had parked along the frontage road, which was separated from I-40 by a barbed wire fence. She did not let that fence hinder her, as she crawled through the barbed wire, and walked over to Pastor Chick, trembling. She told him that what he is doing means so much to her as her dad died in Iraq. Her whole story and what she understands him to be doing are not known, but the fact is that she was highly impacted by this encounter – and so was Pastor Chick.
After walking 9.6 miles to the first exit, we stopped at a buffet restaurant. We met Listen and Carolyn Anderson, while waiting in line, who asked about our shirts. Realizing that we really are ‘walking coast to coast’, and appreciating our cause, they paid for our meal and we all enjoyed a meal together.
As we walked to our table with food, a group of people said “Welcome to Albuquerque!” They explained that they recognized us from the news and appreciate what we are doing.
