Day #158 – Starting the New Year With a Walk in the Cold

Today’s walk was 16.4 miles because there were no exits between the 8 mile mark and the 16.4 mile mark.

It started in fairly cold temperatures but with no wind, which was a real blessing. Approximately every 3 miles (for the first half of the walk), Pastor Chick got in the car and warmed up, thawing the ice on his mustache and beard, then continued on his way.

During the second half of the walk, the sun came out – but so did the wind and it was right in his face. But, no ice on his mustache or beard due to the sun shining on his face!

Almost at the stopping point, he had a roadside encounter, which was the only one for today.

We ate at the T/A Truck Stop in Santa Rosa, which has a pretty good soup and salad bar. When it came time to pay, our server told us the manager had taken care of the bill!
