Day #105 Visit with Roland, OK Vice-Mayor

We visited Vice-Mayor, Mark Fletcher, at his tire shop, T&B Tires. He took some time from his business to learn about this walk, and said “God bless you!”

Pastor “Chick” presented a 40 day prayer guide for our country to him as a memento of this walk for the Town of Roland, OK.

Mathew Wheeler and Mr. Carter showed interest in the purpose of the walk.

Evelyn Lookebill expressed her support. She had read about the walk in the Times Record. She greeted Freedom Walker with “Welcome to Muldron!”

Rhonda Cantwell expressed her support, gave us each a bottle of cold water, and said “You probably will touch a lot of people’s lives. I appreciate you, know you’ll have an effective trip, and wish you have a safe one.” Skyler Cantwell, with Cantwell’s Hardware. also appreciates what we are doing.

Larry Lain said that some local veterans thought Freedom Walker was walking through Muldrow yesterday and were waiting and watching for him outside of Cantwell’s Hardware, until they went to look for him.

Cianan and Haley stopped to take pictures and learn about the walk. Cianan said that he would like to run across the country at some point.

Brian Cartwright with LaFerry Propane and Joseph Johnson, with AT&T, saw Pastor “Chick” walking and after asking what he is walking for, said that yes, this world has gone a long way the wrong way, and “God bless you!”

Also, a man from Texas, who guarded the president for 25 years, expressed his support.

We accepted the invitation from Sarah Sartor to visit Highlands of Van Buren and speak with the residents.

After speaking to the residents, Freedom Walker joined some of the resident veterans for a picture.

Rose Rudisill, Highlands of Van Buren Administrator, presented a gift to us in appreciation for our visit and this walk.

Pastor “Chick” presented a 40 day prayer guide for our country, as a memento of this historic walk to Mayor Bob Freeman.

Mayor Bob Freeman gave Pastor “Chick” a gold coin, personally, which he said he can use if it becomes necessary on this walk. He also presented him with the Key to the City of Van Buren.

Jennifer Froud, Administrative Assistant, greeted us, brought us cold water, and showed great interest in our walk.

Mayor Bob Freeman welcomed us and said “I admire you for taking this on – not just because of your age, but for walking to make a statement.”

They both really appreciated us coming by Van Buren City Hall. Notice the sign on the wall in Mayor Freeman’s office.

Tanaia Tudor from the Press Argus Newspaper, joined us, took pictures, and interviewed Pastor “Chick”.

Upon entering Oklahoma, Biker, Larry McCain stopped to get pictures. He had met Freedom Walker earlier and learned about the walk.

On the way to the walk site, we stopped to clean the windshield and met Brian, who is very supportive of our causes.

Pastor Chick met Sarah Sartor, who was on the way to work at Highlands of Van Buren Health & Rehab. She invited him to meet with, and speak to, the residents there, as some are veterans.

Marilyn Moring was very excited when she learned what he is walking for. She tried to arrange some television coverage and showed us the historic part of the city. While there, she told Willie Lee Dart about our walk and he found it interesting.

When we went to Golden Corral for lunch, we met Ron and Marilyn Hardin, who are also veterans. They bought our lunch and we ate with them and their friend, Mary Jo.

Christy, our server at Golden Corral, expressed interest in our walk.

Ed McBee gave Freedom Walker drinking water and appreciated what he is doing.

A couple of people stopped and took pictures to share on Facebook.

Robert Stephens stopped to learn about the walk and had much to say about the state of America.

Stacy Ryburn with the Times Record Newspaper, Fort Smith, AR, called to see when he could connect with Freedom Walker. We decided to go to their office, where Stacy interviewed him and John Lovett took pictures.

Later, we met Zaven and Dalie, who took interest in the walk, appreciating it.
