Officer Brandon and his family were very supportive. Officer Brandon was one of the two that escorted us through town and to US72 in Alabama.

His mother (not pictured) was very friendly and in agreement also.

His son, Dylan, handed Pastor Chick an orange cap with South Pittsburg, TN on it AND a drawing he made of an American flag with writing on it that says “God bless America and God bless Pastor Chick.”

As we reached the starting point, we were met by Neil Bennett, who we met at the church where our safe-station is. He also does some photography for the local newspaper. He helped us raise awareness a great deal in the South Pittsburg area by assisting with getting an interview with the newspaper, an appointment with Mayor Jane Dawkins, as well as a police escort through town! Thank you, Brother Neil for your support and for helping us to raise awareness!

Though I have a lot of pictures, most of the action is on video and that will take me some time to have that ready because there is so much of it.

One police officer, Brandon Price, met us before we reached the Blue Arch Bridge over the TN River. He presented Pastor Chick with a South Pittsburg Police patch.

At the Blue Arch Bridge, two police cars began the escort – one in front and one behind Pastor Chick. They took him all the way through South Pittsburg and then to US 72 in Alabama.

We drove into South Pittsburg for an interview with Melissa Brown, Marion County Newspapers.

As we were finishing washing clothing at a laundromat, Officer Brandon Price found us. He said they had been learning about the walk on the internet. Seeing our car in the parking lot, he stopped to express his support.

Before leaving parking lot, his mother and son drove up, so Pastor Chick also shared with them.

Ronnie Dykes, who works alongside the road, expressed his support after learning more about the walk.

Pastor Chick stopped after walking 14.1 miles today. It was a difficult walk, partially through mountain roads – and some sprinkles. He walked very fast today!

When we passed by the first view below, Barbara said “That reminds me of Kalangala!” – thinking of the beach areas.

Across the road was a house and Pastor Chick said – “And that reminds me of the house we plan to build in Kalanga!a” – though it is not at all like our building plan.
